DOMAIN TRANSFER FAQs
Common questions about domain transfers
For most common domains, your remaining registration period is retained, and the transfer adds one year to the existing expiry date. Rules can differ by domain and recent renewal history.
Transfer time depends on the domain, your current provider and completion of the required approvals. Start well before expiry. Contact Host IT if you need help checking your domain’s transfer status.
An EPP code is a transfer authorisation code, also called an Auth Code or Transfer Secret. Obtain it from your current domain provider’s control panel or support team. Some domains have a different transfer process.
They should continue working if your existing nameservers, DNS records, hosting and email services remain active. Transferring a domain does not automatically move your website or email. Contact Host IT before transferring if your current provider also manages your DNS.
Many domains have a 60-day restriction after registration or a previous transfer. Expired-domain transfers depend on the domain’s status and extension rules. Contact Host IT to check the requirements before placing your order.
